Windsurfing Packing List

For windsurfing, you'll want these items:
  1. aqua socks/water shoes -- these are $5 at Academy (beware: their sizes are weird, try them on)
  2. sunscreen
  3. hat
  4. towel
  5. lots of bottled water -- I can easily drink 2-3L per session
  6. snacky snacks -- Freddy's trailmix was a big hit, granola bars are good too
  7. sunglasses
  8. Padre Island National Seashore entry and parking passes (if you have them)
For the rest of the trip:
  1. more water for re-hydrating and pre-hydrating
  2. walking shoes
  3. clothes for bars and sit down restaurants
  4. camera
  5. maps & directions (to hotel, to Worldwinds)
Is there anything else that I'm missing? Comment below.

You want to bring a swimsuit, obviously. Wear it on the way down so you don't have to change when you get there.

Doh! Good catch Jason.

Another tip: put your sunscreen on in front of a mirror before the drive. This way you won't end up with a hand print outlined in red on your back. The dreaded ghostly hand takes weeks to fade away.

Bring your rash guard if you have one.

I suggest bringing weight-lifting or biking gloves if you have a pair. Windsurfing can be a little rough on the hands, especially if you haven't learned harness yet.

PeconicPuffin says: "I carry a large plastic bottle (used to hold windshield washer fluid...now well rinsed out) full of water. When rinse water is scarce it's great to pour over your head, or on your hands, or to rinse out mud or sand in a mast. It definately improves the quality of your day, and costs nothing but a little space in your ride. FYI"

Rinse water -- it's a good idea.

Just to be explicit, don't drink any water from a container that isn't food grade. Especially one that was once used to store poisonous chemicals. This is just for rinsing.
